چکیده

Porous carbon materials have attracted growing attention among the different types of supports used in heterogeneous catalysis because of certain favorable characteristics, which are essentially their resistance to acidic/basic media, significant pore and surface tailorability, and ease of recovery of catalytic metals via combustion of the support material. Carbon fibers typically feature a relatively low surface area of 50–350 m/g when compared to activated carbons and activated carbon fibers [1]. Activated carbon fibers (ACFs) depict a comparatively contemporary variety of porous carbon material with a number of important advantages such as a high apparent specific surface area, generally in the range of 1500–3000 m/g, and a high adsorption capacity, as well as very rapid adsorption kinetics from the gas and liquidphases [2]. ACFs have attracted considerable interest because of their wide applicability for separation purposes and as catalyst supports.

Separation and Recovery of Platinum and Palladium from Spent Petrochemical Catalysts Using Activated Carbon, Analysis of Two Kind of Most Used Catalysts in Petro Chemistry

The goal of this work is the separation and recovery of platinum and palladium from spent catalyst. The recovery consisted of separating the maximum amount of platinum and palladium from catalysts and changing them into usable forms. The petroleum and petrochemical units use Pt and Pd catalyst for reactions such as reforming and hydrogenation. Because these materials contain valuable metals...

Palladium nanoparticles supported on carbon black powder as an effective anodic catalyst for application in a direct glucose alkaline fuel cell

Palladium nanoparticles supported on carbon black powder (Vulcan XC-72) nanocomposite (Pd/C) are synthesized as the catalyst for the anodic oxidation of glucose for use in a direct glucose alkaline fuel cell (DGAFC). Characterization of the catalyst is carried out using physical and electrochemical methods. It is observed that Palladium nanoparticles are uniformly dispersed onto the carbon blac...

Pd on carbon nanotubes for liquid phase alcohol oxidation

Pd nanoparticles supported on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) showed a higher selectivity than Pd nanoparticles supported on activated carbon (AC) in the liquid phase oxidation of benzylic alcohol to benzaldehyde. Under solventless conditions a significant improvement in selectivity was observed for Pd/CNTs, whereas using Pd/AC a considerable over-oxidation of benzaldehyde was observed. Differently fro...

A Procedure for Preparation of Semi-activated Carbon Fiber without any Treatment under High Temperature

A procedure for preparation of semi-activated carbon fiber (SACF) without any treatment under high temperature was proposed. The first step of the procedure is coating of an inorganic fiber (E-glass fiber) by an adsorbent mixture including powder activated carbon, methyl cellulose and water. In this work a set of experiments was performed to attain appropriate adsorbent mixture for good quality...

Comparing activated carbon and magnetic activated carbon in removal of linear alkylbenzene sulfonate from aqueous solution by heterogeneous catalytic ozonation process

Activated carbon from pine cone (PCAC) was used as a precursor to prepare Fe3O4/magnetic activated carbon (MPCAC). Here, the removal of linear alkylbenzene sulfonate (LAS) was studied using catalytic ozonation process (COP) in exposure to MPCAC. Subsequently, it was compared with PCAC. Moreover, the effects of solution's initial pH, catalyst dosage, and the time of ozonati...
